A whitby gem.
Warmly welcomed by the hosts and showed to a roomy table. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. I really recommend the hunters chicken. The pub has a cosy vibe and it was a lovely end to a break away.

Perfect location to park your car and have a nice meal at the pub.
Staff were friendly and drinks kept flowing.
It was nice to have fresh chargrilled chicken in my burger. Well done to new management.

Good car park , clean hotel etc, only issue was food was unavailable Thursday evening. Chef taken to hospital which we understand, health first , but a simple text or email we could have stayed in town and changed plans easily. Unfortunately walked back to hotel to find out no food at 8:30.
Which ruined our evening, takeaway pizza , instead of beer wine and evening meal etc.
Simple communication and we would understand.

A great place to stay, the accommodation is basic but practical, breakfast is good. Not far from Whitby centre.

Outstanding!! Can't wait to visit again. A superb staff team who made us all feel very welcome. Rooms were lovely, beds very comfortable and breakfast and evening meal spot on.

We had a great stay for new year at the Penny Hedge. It is recently under new management and understand there will be teething problems adjusting to the change. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and made our stay really enjoyable. New Year’s Eve was fab. We stayed with another family who also had young children and we were made to feel really welcome.

The service score is only for the attentive actions of Karl , our waiter on New Year's eve. Inspite of being overloaded with tables to look after he cheerfully carried on and made sure we were served in a timely manner. He was very friendly, and in difficult circumstances remained professional.

Ate at connected restaurant and would HIGHLY recommend and will be coming again. I had the gammon meal and vegan ice cream pudding. Haven’t had a better meal! (I didn’t book hotel so can’t say anything about that)
Thanks to all the amazing staff too, really made it my favourite restaurant :D

A very pleasant stay for two nights at the Penny Hedge Inn, with friendly staff, and lovely food.
We had a disabled room with a wet room which was ideal for myself being in a wheelchair with plenty of room to manoeuvre my large powered wheelchair. There were ample sockets for charging our phones and the wheelchair batteries overnight. The only minor point was the door to the room had a heavy spring making it difficult for me to manage alone, but however these are fire doors for my safety.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting penny hedge and was fortunate enough to be served by Karl, the bartender. From the moment I walked in, Karl's warm smile and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home.
it was nothing short of spectacular! Karl has a knack for attention to detail truly sets him apart.
Karl is a great conversationalist. He took the time to engage with everyone at the bar, making recommendations and sharing stories that added to the vibrant atmosphere. It was clear that he genuinely cares about his customers and wants everyone to have a fantastic experience.
If you're looking for a top-notch bartender who knows how to create both amazing drinks and a fun environment, look no further than Karl. He’s a true gem, and I can’t wait to come back for another round!
